Dalmatians are built for endurance as they used to run alongside horse and carriage years ago. They are a large breed that sheds their coat throughout the year. Their coat is short so it is quick to dry when they get muddy.

Dalmatians make good family pets and can live with other animals such as cats. They do need plenty of exercise and love to be with people all the time. They can be boisterous so it is important to train them from the word go. Dalmatians are food motivated and love affection so this makes training more successful.

Dalmatians live to about 12-15 years old. When choosing a puppy from a breeder make sure hearing checks have been done along with all the usual checks. Also ask the breeder if there is any history of epilepsy in the blood line.

Our Dalmation Annie is a real nutter. She loves to play and have loads of energy. We walk her everyday but she still doesnt settle when we get home. However that said we wouldnt swap her for the world.
